Indonesia, Japan Agree to Raise Partnership Status to Comprehensive Strategic
Thepresidentpost.id - Indonesia and Japan have agreed to raise the partnership status of the two countries to strategic comprehensive, President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo has said.
“I am pleased that Indonesia and Japan have agreed to raise their partnership status to comprehensive strategic,” he said during a bilateral meeting with Prime Minister of Japan Fumio Kishida at Jakarta Convention Center (JCC), Jakarta, Thursday (09/07).
According to President Jokowi, the current top priority is to navigate the course of concrete cooperation that can bring benefits to the people.
“This is our duty to navigate the course of our cooperation so that it can bring real benefits to the people and contribute to stability and peace,” he said.
Echoing a similar sentiment, PM Kishida in his remarks also pushed for the strengthening of the two countries’ strategic partnership.
“I am delighted that we can announce a joint statement on the two countries’ comprehensive strategic partnership,” he said while expressing praise to Indonesia for playing an important role in assuming the Chairmanship of ASEAN.
PM Kishida also expressed hope that the coordination between ASEAN and Japan can continue to strengthen the free and open international order.
“I would like to express my respect for His Excellency President for playing an important role as the Chair of ASEAN and I also hope that we can further coordinate to maintain and strengthen international order that is free and open based on supremacy of law,” he remarked.
