Thepresidentpost.id - Oslo, Norway - Indonesia became the centre of attention at Norway's largest Travel Expo, held at Telenor Arena, Oslo (13-14/1). During the two-day exhibition, Indonesia´s booth was packed with prospective Norwegian travellers who were eager to explore the beauty of Indonesia. Visitor enthusiasm was quite high, with more than 7,000 prospective travellers attending.

The participation of the Indonesian Embassy in Oslo (KBRI Oslo) played an important role in promoting Indonesian tourism during the Travel Expo. The Indonesian Embassy in Oslo actively engaged travel operators, offering them direct packages and promotions to attract the attention of the Norwegian audience.

Teuku Faizasyah, Indonesian Ambassador to Norway, stated, "Through the participation of the Indonesian Embassy in Oslo in this Travel Expo, we want to further increase the number of Norwegian tourists visiting Indonesia." In 2023, the number of Norwegian travellers to Indonesia will reach around 19,000 people, an increase of more than 90% from 2022 with 10,000 people.

At Travel Expo 2024, the Indonesian booth featured the theme "Escape the Winter" to capitalise on the increasing trend of Norwegians travelling to tropical countries during the winter holidays. Indonesia introduced tourist destinations outside Bali, such as Jakarta, Yogyakarta, West Sumatra, Lombok, North and West Sumatra, and North Sulawesi.

In this exhibition, Indonesia showcased its rich culture through performances of the Bona Jeges dance from North Sumatra and the ondel-ondel dance from Jakarta. Not only that, Indonesian coffee and Gambang musical instruments also attracted visitors.

During the two-day exhibition, the Indonesian booth was packed with visitors who were enthusiastic to buy Indonesian tourism packages. Many visitors who had visited Indonesia before were also keen to explore Indonesia's unique tourism destinations again.

Based on data from Travel Expo and Statistics Norway, Norwegian tourists have long travel periods (more than 10 days) and high levels of travel expenditure, especially during summer and winter holidays that last more than 30 days. Prospective Norwegian travellers prefer unique and culturally rich tourist attractions, including hiking and diving activities, while expecting good facilities and transport.
